Birthday, Surgery, and Campaign Updates
May 30, 2007 on 11:30 am | In General | No CommentsIt’s been a long time since I last updated, and a lot has happened recently.
First, we thoroughly enjoyed the long holiday weekend. We spent most of the time around the house, although on Friday we were able to go to my Dad’s and see my Uncle Jim, which is always nice. Since he lives outside of Denver, I don’t get to see him much, but I’m grateful when I do get the chance. The rest of the weekend was spent hanging around the homestead, playing squirt gun fights with the kids, and grilling out and enjoying some frosty cold beverages on Monday.
Also on Monday, we participated in the Bellefontaine Memorial Day Parade, which consisted of riding on the Logan County Republican Float and promoting my candidacy for City Council. That was a great time, and the kids really enjoyed getting to be a part of it. That event was kind of the official kick-off to my campaign. With there being no Primary Election this year, I automatically received the
nomination for the Republican Party to run for 4th Ward City Council, so now the fun begins. It has already been an extremely educational and fun process, and I’m sure that it will only get better. The next big event will be at the Logan County Fair in July. Just about all I have left to do is get my Web Site finished and running, which will hopefully be done in the next week or so.

We also got our new vehicle last week, a 2007 Honda Odyssey. This van replaced our Honda Accord which was a lease. It’s so nice, especially when we often have to haul all five of us around town. I opted for the Rear Entertainment System, and it’s honestly been a great investment. When we’re in the car, we don’t hear a peep out of the kids, as they’re intently watching and listening to whatever movie we have in the DVD player. It has done for us what the Gameboy did for my father. I highly suggest getting Rear Entertainment for anyone with children. While I miss the Accord a little bit (it was my first “new” car, and I thoroughly enjoyed driving it), this van is the most comfortable vehicle I’ve ever been in. There’s just so much room! It’s just great!

Earlier this month, I celebrated my 26th birthday. I must say the excitement of birthdays definitely diminish over time. Now it just feels like I’m getting old
Shortly after my birthday, I ended up in the Hospital with appendicitis, and that was no fun, although it did get me off work for a little over a week. That was my first major surgery, so it was pretty scary going into it, especially when I didn’t know exactly what the problem was, but once they figured out it was my appendix, it was smooth sailing!

Finally, I started a new job back in April. I’m still with Honda, but doing some different stuff. It’s been pretty good so far. I stay very busy, and it makes the days fly by!
I guess that’s about it for now. I’ll try to update a little more often in the future.
